| It took 2 bikes to bring this one back! |
I am aware that many of my bikes are priced out of reach of the average guy, especially
in our troubled economy and at this time. I also know that a lot of you guys are quite good at performing your own work and
are looking for rare, bargain priced bikes that you can turn into your own personal projects. This is why I
have come up with the 2 pages listed at left. My 'Blow Out Specials'
and 'Core Rebuilders' pages offer you some really cool bikes
at pre-restoration prices.
So, I am beginning to look for dry, non-rusty Arizona
bikes needing restos, and am offering them to you (with or without shipping included) in unrestored condition. Bikes located
here in the SouthWest are typically in very good shape but the plastic/soft parts are usually sun faded or destroyed.
Unlike your east coast bikes, the bones (metal and chrome) of our bikes are usually very nice. These
are great bikes to perform a resto on.
If you see one of my bikes in currently
unrestored shape and WOULD LIKE IT RESTORED TO YOUR TASTES/NEEDS, I will be happy to do that for you as well.
I can offer you any of my unrestored bikes restored
to whatever level you want.
FOR EXAMPLE:
Mechanical only restos.
Cosmetic
only restos.
Race modified restos.
OEM (back to original) restos.
--OR--
Any combination of the above.
Services offered include:
-total fork and shock rebuilding and/or restoration-
-total engine rebuilding to stock or race/modified-
-complete powdercoating of any parts in any color-
-complete anodizing of any parts in any color-
-new tires/tubes/rim locks of your choice installed-
-complete wheel rebuilding with all new parts-
-utilization of new and/or vintage aftermarket parts-
Here is just one example of a restoration performed for me by Don
at Y & S Racing. This is a real DG KX125 package racer that was in really sad shape, but had most of it's original parts
still on it. It was important for me to RETAIN as many of those parts as possible, and only replace with correct/vintage
what could NOT be saved.
In my opinion, the
value of the bike stays the highest when we can retain and re-use as many of the ORIGINAL parts as possible. As
long as these original parts are still cosmetically sound and mechanically functional, then this will be our
goal. As a bonus, this can help save money on the total cost of the resto as well.
On this bike we saved the original plastic with all the original DG/aftermarket sponser stickers
still on it. Rebuilt the suspension, powdercoated the frame and related bits, left all of the original anodizing alone, replaced
soft parts like seat cover, tires, grips, etc. Rebuilt the top-end (left the chrome bore and all DG porting alone as fortunately
this was all still excellent). Even though this bike was modified from Kawasaki OEM factory original, I believe that it is
an important piece of VMX history. I would still call this an 'OEM
to original' restoration. The price for this is approx. $2000 parts and labor.
----------------
A complete resto with almost EVERYTHING replaced/restored/rebuilt/replated
will cost around $3000 to $4000 parts and labor.
----------------
We
can do as little as you want starting at $50 or go to full race/mechanical only and restore to track ready for around
$750-$1000
----------------
As
you can see, the sky's the limit.
Just let
me know what level you would like your bike restored to.
